Rules of “FOLLOW-ME” Service

 

I.          Objectives of the Service:

          Upon request of a subscriber, this service is provided, wherein all the incoming mail to his post box, excluding parcels, is transferred to his new address in Oman or abroad.

 

 II.        Administrative Procedures:

1.      Fill in the prescribed form (Form 1 – Follow-Me) in original and one copy. The original is retained by the concerned post office and the  copy is goes to the applicant.

2.      Approval of the both post boxes, the source post box and the target post box.

3.      The subscriber pays prescribed fees and gets a receipt for the same.

4.      The service is stopped upon end of the term of subscription, unless extended upon request from the subscriber and receipt of prescribed fees. This is conditional with renewal of subscription for the source post box.

5.      Follow-Me Service is provided in those Wilayats and villages where post offices or postal agencies exist.

6.      Transfer of mail is suspended if the subscriber of target post box fails to renew his yearly subscription.

7.      The Post Master or the Section Head processes the application as per given procedures and by following the following steps:

a.       Ensure that the Follow-Me form is complete.

b.      A note is pasted on the applicants post box to remind that the all / some incoming mail be transferred under Follow-Me service as required.

c.       Ordinary mail is put in and ordinary postal cover and registered mail is put in a registered postal utility cover. The new cover is addressed with the target address and passed on to the concerned section.

d.      In case of registered mail, if the subscriber unsubscribes, remarks regarding recommencement of transfer of mail are mentioned on the Receipt Nos: 151 and 352.

e.       Mail-Way_Bill mentions existence of Follow-Me Packet/s.

 

III.       Financial Procedures:

1.      A receipt with four copies is prepared and the original one is given to the subscriber.

2.      The amount paid is mentioned in the detailed statement and sent to the Admin and Finance Department along with a copy of the receipt.

3.      A copy of the receipt and the statement are kept in the file for audit and follow-up.
