Signing of  Agreement Between Ministry of Transport and Communications

and Royal Oman Police for Providing Postal Services

In light of guidelines  of  the  Government concerning simplification of procedures for public and private sectors and for individuals, Ministry of Transport and Communications and Royal Oman Police have signed an agreement allowing the post offices to receive documents belonging to the Department of Passports and Residence. The agreement was signed by His Excellency Saud Bin Suleiman Bin Himyar Al-Nabhani, Undersecretary of Ministry of Transport and Communications and by Colonel Muhammad Bin Abdullah Al-Riyami, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Customs for Operations. According to the agreement, the post offices all over Governorate Muscat, as the first phase, will receive documents belonging to the Department of Passports and Residence; like renewal and replacement of passports and residence visas, for their processing by the said Department during the same day. The documents will then be returned to their owners during the next days against a nominal fees. This will save them their time and effort. The post offices remain open during morning and evening sessions and on Thursdays too. In some cases these open even on Fridays. This facility enables users of the postal services to submit their documents throughout the day and on all days of the week. Ministry of Transport and Communications, represented by Directorate General of Post, is pleased and proud to provided its unique and simplified services at all of its post offices, which are equipped with best available means and skilful Omani hands for service of the public


* His Excellency the Minister of Transport and Communications has issued Ministerial Decree (No: 2/2003) stating the following: The post offices will organise receipt and delivery of documents related to commercial transactions with Oman Chamber of Commerce and its branches against a fees if RO 1 per transaction in addition to the respective fees prescribed for such transactions. This comes as a step towards making post offices play their role in simplifying the procedures of transactions and saving time of those interested in benefiting from such services.



* His Excellency the Minister of Transport and Communications has issued Ministerial Decree implying that, stating from October 9, 2003, post offices all over the Sultanate shall receive documents related to processing of tax transactions at Secretariat General of Taxes and shall process and complete the same against a fees if RO 1 per transaction in addition to the respective fees prescribed for such transactions. This comes as a step towards making post offices play their role in simplifying the procedures of transactions and saving time of those interested in benefiting from such services.
